Hello! We are the Bouwkamp family. Seven years ago we purchased an old, condemned, and falling apart 20 acre farm in Muskegon, MI. Since then, we have been fixing up and breathing life into this run down piece of land.
During this process, we learned that pigs can be used to reclaim overgrown and rundown pastureland. Shortly after bringing in the pigs, we quickly realized that we love farming and we love knowing that our animals are well cared for and living their lives on fresh, clean, pasture. The bacon is an added benefit!
It wasn’t long until we began to incorporate raising chickens into our life as well. Now, we rotate our pigs and chickens on pasture to support the land, and to produce fertilizer for our gardening. We practice regenerative farming techniques that help the soil, and allow better plants to grow each year, which then helps to grow better animals.
As a family, we love knowing that we can provide healthy and fresh food to our table right off of our own piece of land. We also love to know that we are able to produce that same fresh and quality food for others.
